Children's Dental Visits:
We love our young patients! It is great to be able to make a great first impression for young children knowing this is going to shape how they feel about dentist visits for the rest of their lives! Everyday, we have young patients walking in cautiously hiding behind their parents with an anxious look on their face, we talk with them and take the time to make them feel comfortable and the best part is when we earn their trust and watch them smile and leave with a happy face and sense of relief and accomplishment: Yey,I did it and it was not scary at all... I like the dentist!!
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that children have their first dental check up before their first birthday! For our young patients, we recommend making the appointment during morning hours when they are not tired or hungry and not after a big meal that creates more chances of an unpleasant experience. The first dental check up is very important since it helps your child feel comfortable with the dentist and our pediatric dentist, Dr. Cherish can review your child's nutrition and teeth cleaning habits and educate you on how to improve those for a healthy smile for life!
Before the first appointment at the dentist, speak with your child about what to expect and the reason it is important to brush our teeth and see the dentist!
During this appointment, your child can be on your lap with the dentist sitting knee-to-knee with you to examine and clean your baby's teeth.
